FUMC sponsors Boy
Scout Troop
17. Troop 17 was originally chartered in the 1960s. The Troop
has produced many Eagle scouts
and has performed numerous service projects for the community.
The Troop presently consists of 25 scouts, a scoutmaster and
3 assistant
scoutmasters. Any boy age 11 through 18 is welcome to join. The
troop meets every Monday night at 6:45 pm from Labor Day to the
end of
school in May. The Troop goes on 1 camping trip per month and always
attends Camp Yocona for one week in June.
First Methodist Church sponsors five Girl Scout Troops led by women of the church. Girl Scouts learn new skills and perform service projects in our community. The Girl Scout program consists of different age levels: Daisy Girl Scouts (kindergarten), Brownie Girl Scouts (1st-3rd grade), Junior Girl Scouts (4th-6th grade), and Studio 2B for teen girls.
