The Flock
Fun-Loving, Outgoing Christian Kin
The Flock is open to anyone in the church or community, regardless
of age.
“The Flock” is
the name of the Senior Adult Ministry of First United Methodist
Church, New Albany. Monthly meetings are on the first Tuesday
of each
month at 11:00 a.m. in Wesley Hall. Guests are welcome to come to our time
of fellowship where we have programs and delicious meals for
$5. Attendees sign
up to make reservations for the meeting.
Programs have been on the following: art, history, book reviews, musicals,
dramatic presentations, health , fashion, games, nature, mission work, humor,
and inspirational themes. We also have taken trips to see plays and musicals
in Tupelo and Memphis and visited other sights of interest.
Our calendar year begins in September and ends in May with no meeting in January.
Members of The Flock volunteer to decorate and give devotions at meetings.
Our doors are open to anyone who would like to enjoy this time of great food,
interesting programs, and wonderful fellowship.

WOMEN'S MINISTRIES
As the UMW
focuses on the beginning of a new year in September, our
members want our congregation to be aware of the UMW program and
its
far reaching impact throughout the community, state, and world.
The UMW
works in mission on behalf of women, children, and youth. Our purpose
is
embodied in these words: The organized unit of United Methodist
Women
shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and
to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to
develop a
creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission
through
participation in the global ministries of the church. Our general
group meets
monthly for special guest speakers or projects. The general group
is divided
into four Circle groups which meet at various times to accommodate
the
schedules of women of the church. The groups meet on a regular
basis to
learn from studies provided by the Women’s Division of General
Board of
Global Ministries.
We have several
UMW circles groups and we also have a Women's Bible Study that
meets during the school year at 10:00 am every Thursday morning.
Each member
makes a “Pledge to Mission” and then participates
in an
outreach project. All women of the church are invited to join.

ADULT PRAYER GROUP AND ADULT BIBLE STUDY
These two groups meet at 6:00 pm every Wednesday night during the
school year. Adult Prayer Group is led by Rev. Leslie Nabors and
consists of singing, a devotional and prayer time. Adult Bible Study
is typically led by our senior pastor but occasionally we offer a
variety of topics and teachers. |
